The musical Cats revolves around an annual gathering of cats called the Jellicle Ball, where Old Deuteronomy, the leader of the cats, will announce which cat will be chosen to be reborn in the Heavyside Layer. The announcement is made before dawn, while the cats eagerly await the declaration. Each cat introduces themselves and showcases their unique qualities in hopes of being selected. The audience enjoys the stories of various famous cats from both past and present as they share their life experiences in different forms. As morning approaches, all the cats come together to hear Old Deuteronomy announce the name of the cat chosen for rebirth in this magical realm.
